In the fall, our classmate Elena and her mom Leslie, encouraged me to apply for a unique opportunity for our class - to join a program through UNICEF which promotes fitness and global citizenship. In December, I was informed we were one of the lucky classrooms in the country selected to receive a free kit in order to participate in UNICEF Kid Power! We will join the UNICEF Kid Power Team starting March 1, 2017 to get active and make an impact on the lives of others in this three month school program.
Currently, we are deciding on a team name. Next, I will be registering our class online, and I will receive our kit in late February. Below is more information I have taken from the UNICEF Kid Power website to explain a little more about this program.
I look forward to sharing this opportunity with your children!

UNICEF Kid Power gives kids the power to save lives. People everywhere are joining the UNICEF Kid Power Team, working together to help end global malnutrition.
The UNICEF Kid Power Band is the world’s first wearable-for-good®. By getting active with the UNICEF Kid Power Band, students go on missions to earn points and unlock therapeutic food packets for severely malnourished children around the world. The more kids move, the more points they earn, the more lives they save.
UNICEF Kid Power promotes fitness and global citizenship in the classroom. The program consists of a teacher-led experience that leverages easy-to-use technology and standards-based curriculum including lessons, activities and games for keeping students inspired.
Our classroom kit will include:
A UNICEF Kid Power Band for each student
A data enabled tablet to sync Bands with the UNICEF Kid Power App
Access to the UNICEF Kid Power standards aligned curriculum
Support from the UNICEF Kid Power customer service team
UNICEF Kid Power is a program of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, and is made possible through the generous support of Presenting Sponsors Star Wars: Force for Change and Target.
